Cold and Beautiful by Sourav Bhattacharjee

Cold we are –

In our minds – souls – thoughts

Indifferent to all the relentless sufferings,

And screaming of ailing people around us.

Cold are our hands –

With no warmth and blue in tinge;

Full of venom of hatred and ignominious

Sense of skulduggery and jealous feelings.

Cold we think –

Without any pride of being human

Where our lives pass on aimlessly,

Without any linkage to anyone else,

Cold we behave –

Living in a selfish world where

Oil gives us the sense of being rich –

And we are ready to exchange oil for lives.

Cold are our eyes –

With no sense of sympathy.

Or mercy for anyone who lagged behind –

As we do too much and think too little.

Cold are our souls –

Where we give up to all that is false

All that is inhuman – virtual –mortal – fake

All we try is to please our mirror images.

Cold we breathe –

We look human but are without humanity,

We have faces to ornament but no time

For creativity and space for looking into –

Each other’s eyes to feel the vacuum within.

Cold from the core – that’s what we are,

To the depths of our bodies and minds we are

Cold – and – at least in our eyes – we are beautiful!
