Drip, drip, rest, drip, drip
The cat drags it inside the door
I kick her back outside
No more, no more, I swore

But the thing is alive
And gives a tiny, weak miaow
I intend to throw it out
Then change my mind somehow

He calls for his Mammy
And I face a simple test
Do I let him starve
Or do what is best

Opening the door
She rushes in
I am now as much a bystander
As is my dustbin

And soon she returns with two more
And I have visitors unwanted
Inside, my anger is rising fast
Yet go to fetch a warm blanket

And upon my way
I discover a truth of me
When love is an unexpected visitor
My heart moves, oh, so unexpectedly
